Who is this guy? I'm a firm believer in keeping my personal life private and separated from any online role-playing game I play or work with. After enduring a few too many very frustrating incidents where I allowed myself to let my guard down and ended up running for my life (literally), I no longer make my personal life known to anyone online. I'm not a bad guy, and despite having a strong temper and no patience for other people's bullsh*t, I generally respect people and treat them the way I wish to be treated (the Golden Role. Who would have thought it could actually WORK!). I'm just private and prefer good spirited attitudes, and if that upsets a few, I'm sorry. I'm pretty much a stickler for not talking too much about my personal life, and if I feel like divulging something, I will. But, don't be offended or get moody on me if I shut the door to my personal information on ya at any time. Why Modus, and does this guy really think he's Bryan Hitt? Some would probably tell you I think I am, but since they're pretty much idiots, what else would you expect them to tell you (wait, they've said other stupid things besides this. I guess you can expect even more from them then)? I'm not the real Bryan Hitt, nor do I think I am. There is no crime in patterning your character after a celebrity, as many players who have visited Modus Operandi in the past have done, although some people get very judgmental and critical of you if you do sometimes. To them, I say "bite me." It's not your character, now is it? I first started playing Modus in 1996 after I stumbled upon it on AOL. It seemed interesting, and since I had been a moderate Dungeons & Dragons player a few years back, I thought it sounded pretty cool. Plus, I love mystery and suspense movies, so the romance of that genre appealed to me. I tried it out, basing my Modus character on a drummer I saw play in 1995 and came to greatly admire, Bryan Hitt of REO Speedwagon. I, too, was once a drummer (still play sometimes), and I thought it was a cool name for a character, especially one in a mystery based RPG. The more I started to design the character's appearance in the character manager, the more I realized that I was more or less patterning him after Mr. Hitt. So, at the time, I guess you could say it was "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." When Modus Operandi moved to the web a few months after I got there, I was already too hooked to give up. So, I've played Bryan Hit for a very long time. Gradually, I have changed him from what he began as, which was almost an RPG version of the real Bryan Hitt, to a character more suited to the actual game genre. His appearance has changed some, and as I have learned how to RP and have grown as a player, I have chosen to make him less and less like the real life Bryan, and more like the long-haired, bounty hunting rouge he's slowly but surely becoming. I've played several other characters on line as well, and I have been an Island Guide and a Game Host, too (which due to the rule against sharing my account, as I have always done, I can no longer be either). In Conclusion..... Aside from what I've already said, I like the fact that I've hung on to this character as I have through good and bad, popular and unpopular, and married and divorced (the character, not me personally). I plan to continue playing Bryan Hit and building him up to be an even better character than he already is (yeah, that's pride talking). I've made a lot of great friends and learned a lot of important stuff. Who said a game can't make a difference? |
